You know what else is bullshit? In 2004, $27 million worth of Wal-Mart gift cards expired unused! Thats right, Wal-Mart WAS GIVEN $27 million dollars ($27,000,000.00) for no good reason! "Pre-paid" gift cards should not expire! In October of this year Wal-Mart released the following:
its (Wal-Mart's) core low-to-middle-income customers "remain concerned about their finances, especially the cost of living," in light of the housing slowdown and a tighter credit market.
Well when you can somehow rationalize taking $27 million from your customers without return of a service or a good, how concerned can you really be.
Wal-Mart ought to be ashamed of themselves, and to think they claim to care about the community.

Quit pissing on Wal-Mart. I have a feeling the information you've read is inaccurate. Post your resource.
If you buy a gallon of milk from the store tomorrow, the package will say something to the effect of "drink before January 8".
If you don't drink the milk by then and it goes sour, is it the stores fault or your own dumb ass fault?
We live in a free market. As a conservative you should come to an understanding of this. Wall-Mart can do business however they see fit, and they didn't get that big by doing something wrong.
Ya, it sucks that they might put some small stores out of business, but that's an inherent risk of any small business, which eventually grow to become big businesses that employ lotsa people, reduce prices for everyone, make technological improvements and benefit the economy.
Now if they did in fact do something shady, like not print the expiration date on the card or market the cards as "Pre-paid gift cards" then I would have to agree with you that their actions were unethical to say the least.
